Art was the road not taken and I embarked on a career in medicine and science many years ago. Over the past 15 years, I recognized that I am a true duality. Art makes my science better and strangely enough, science makes my art better. So I pursue both, trying to satisfy a precarious but compulsory balance between the two noisy sides of my brain. I paint as much as I can, which is never enough, and I try to capture the nature and the beauty of Maine and how it makes me feel.
I am a scientist driven by an unrelenting curiosity about the brain and how it works..I look down microscopes and see a galaxy of cells that form a mind, a personality, a being. And I try to make the world a better place.
I am an artist driven by a deep desire to paint what is in my soul. I am a scientist trying to understand what the soul.is.
Each day, I try to get a little further along on the journey .
